Flying Fijians PNC squad named Underline 24 June, 2011

Flying Fijians head coach Samuela Domoni has today named his 28 member Flying Fijians squad for the 2011 Pacific Nations Cup (PNC) tournament to be hosted in Fiji from 2-13 July.

Included in the squad are four players who are likely to earn their first Test caps for the Flying Fijians during the PNC. They are – Tevita Cavubati, Kini Murimurivalu, Penijamini Makutu and Adriu Delai. Cavubati, Makutu and Delai are all Nadroga registered players while, former Fiji under 19 captain, Kini Murimurivalu currently plies his trade for French side Clermont in the Top 14 – France’s premier rugby division.

The squad also boasts a total of nine Fiji-based or localized (players formerly playing overseas but now playing locally) players in Cavubati, Kalou, Delai, Viliame Veikoso, Leone Nakarawa, Rupeni Nasiga, Malakai Volau, Ravai Fatiaki and Taniela Rawaqa.

The squad will be captained by Llanelli Scarlets Deacon Manu who will be assisted by vice-captain Gabiriele Lovobalavu who plays for Toulon in France.

Fiji’s first game in the PNC is against Tonga on 2 July at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
