The East v West match that was scheduled for Ratu Cakobau Park this Wednesday 16 May has been shifted to Lautoka’s Churchill Park .The decision was made today by Fiji Rugby Union management due to the closure of the Ratu Cakobau Park by the Nausori Town Council.
The Fiji Military Forces had earlier booked Churchill Park for their Bougainville Challenge but have now agreed to accommodate the East vs West match.
The curtain raiser between the Under 20s and the Senior Academy players will be at 1pm followed by the Bougainville challenge at 3pm between Nadi Army and Land Force Command.
The feature East vs West match will kick-off at 5pm.
Today the East team had their first training run at the Bidesi grounds in Suva. 2007 Flying Fijians Rugby World Cup prop Graham Dewes was among those training with the squad today. Other notable players at today’s training session were Niko Ratumaitavuki and Api Naikatini from New Zealand and dropped Digicel Fiji 7s player Nikola Matawalu.
Under the guidance of Naitasiri coach, Reverend Jioji Rinakama, and with only three days to prepare the focus was on getting the players used to various combinations ahead of the trial match.
The East team is currently camping at the Naval Base in Togalevu with the West team camping at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua.
