Digicel host 7s team Underline 17 April, 2012
Digicel Fiji CEO, David Butler (left), and Digicel Fiji 7s Coach, Alivereti Dere, mull things over.
The Digicel Fiji 7s team was today hosted to lunch by major sponsor, Digicel, to congratulate them for their recent win at the Hong Kong 7s.

After all the media hype and the celebrations the low key event was something the team needed to help them focus once again on the remaining two tournaments.

Digicel CEO David Butler said he was really proud of their recent achievement and thanked the boys for their performance.

“I am exceptionally proud of (team captain) Setefano Cakau and his team and the fact Sete was even able to give Digicel a mention in his after match television interview was a very proud moment for all of us at Digicel.”

Butler also wished the boys well ahead of their last two legs of the tournament, in Edinburgh and London.

“I’m confident the boys will make the nation proud and win the 7s series, I know the task ahead of them will be a difficult one, but I’m optimistic the outcome will be a positive one.”

Butler also presented the team with their bonus cheque from the Hong Kong and Japan 7s tournaments.

Fiji Rugby Union CEO Manasa Baravilala, who also attended the lunch, was thankful for the continuous support Digicel gave to the 7s team and the Fiji Rugby Union. He was also proud of the boys and reminded them that the series was not over yet and for the boys to prepare well for the last two tournaments.

Team captain Setefano Cakau, in thanking Digicel for their continuous support, assured those that attended the lunch that the boys would try their best to win the series.

“I just want to say thank you to Digicel for their sponsorship and the lunch that they have given us today, we will try our best to win the series, even though it will be hard”.

The Digicel Fiji 7s team are currently in camp this week with the final 12 member travelling squad to be named next week, prior to departure for the Edinburgh 7s on 30 April.
