Fiji Rugby Union announced today, at Kadavu House in Suva, the 12 member Digicel Fiji 7s squad to the Wellington and Las Vegas 7s. Returning from injury to captain the side is the evergreen Setefano Cakau whose try in the Final of the Gold Coast 7s against New Zealand set Fiji on the road to a memorable 26-12 victory. Cakau is joined in the team by only three other players who starred in that first leg victory in Australia last November – James Brown, Emosi Vucago and Osea Kolinisau.
New caps in the Digicel Fiji 7s team are 2011 Rugby World Cup lock Sekonaia Kalou, Jone Ragamate (often referred to as Jone Tiko) and Serua brothers Waisea Nayacalevu and Avinisi Dakuinubu. Wardens player Levani Botia will also be making his first appearance in the HSBC Sevens World Series though he has previously represented Fiji in sevens at the Pacific Games in New Caledonia last year.
Digicel Fiji is seeded first in a tough Pool C alongside Wales, Argentina and Tonga.
