RUGBY DEVELOPMENT UNIT
Vision
To be a regional and world leader in the Field of Rugby and supporting the HPU in achieving the following goals:

  • Reach the Semi Final – Under 20 IRB World Championship in 2008
  • Win the 2008 IRB Sevens Series.
  • Successfully defend RWC Sevens World Cup-2009
  • Win PRC and PNC 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011
  • To reach the final at the 2011 RWC

Goals

Planning

  1. Development, approval and implementation of an action plan, program and budget for all development projects for 2008.
  2. Employ a qualified and suitable administration person to run all the administration functions of the Development Unit.
  3. Put in place a development structure with an RDM, senior RDO & 5 RDO’s for each Colonial Cup franchise and 1 SREO and 1 REO.
  4. Establishment of a review process for each item in the action plan and the reporting of the review to the board for adoption.
  5. Database for players, coaches and referee’s
  6. Employ a qualified Fitness trainer


Coaching & Refereeing

  1. Send a minimum of 4 L3/NZRU advanced coaching course and have them achieve accreditation in 2008
  2. Conduct an IRB L1 coaching course in each franchise each attended by a minimum of 25 local coaches
  3. Conduct a L1 officiating course in each franchise each attended by a minimum of 15 development referees
  4. Conduct a National IRB L2 coaching course for a max of 30 invited coaches and have 25% of these coaches accredited by 2008.
  5. Each RDO to conduct a min of coaching clinics in their franchise to meet the local coaching needs.
  6. Each RDO to conduct a development program in their franchise by visiting each school a min 5 times per year and each club a min of 3 times per year.

  1. FMF Kaji Rugby U9 to U14 Coaches.
  2. Secondary School Coaches for U15 to U19
  3. Union and Club Coaches and Franchise teams.


Refereeing

  1. Provincial Referees Association members.
  2. Fiji Secondary School Referees
  3. Fiji Primary Schools Referees
  4. Fiji Women Rugby Referees.


Trainers

  1. Provincial Clubs and Unions.
  2. Fiji Secondary Schools
  3. Fiji Primary Schools
  4. Women’s Rugby.
