Vodafone Fiji 7s for Las Vegas & Vancouver 7s

Vodafone Fiji 7s Coach, Gareth Baber and the Fiji Rugby Union has today named the team that will represent Fiji at the fifth round of the 2017 HSBC World 7s Series in Las Vegas and Vancouver.

The selection sees the return of Masivesi Dakuwaqa, Apisai Domolailai and Waisea Nacuqu with the bulk of players that represented Fiji at the Wellington and Sydney 7s retained for this leg.

Vodafone Fiji 7s Coach, Gareth Baber says that he was pleased with the work that the players had put in given the short turnaround.

“Selection for these two legs have been very competitive and I am pleased with the work that the players have put in over the last two weeks. Masivesi and Apisai come in and I am looking forward to seeing their leadership and points of difference on display over the next two legs. Also a return for Waisea who has been very impressive during our training sessions.”

FRU CEO, Mr John O’Connor congratulated the team on their selection and encouraged the boys to play their best in order to improve their standings on the series table.

“Congratulations on those that have been selected and welcome back to the three that have managed to maintain their fitness in order to be selected.  We are now into the fifth leg of the series and in order to successfully defend your series title you will have to work harder for the rest of the series.”

“The Fiji Rugby Union, and your many fans in Fiji and around the world believe that you can do it.  So now it is up to you to go out there and perform like champions and win both tournaments.  We wish you all the best and God Speed in Las Vegas and Vancouver.”

Vodafone Fiji’s Acting CEO, Mr Divik Deo wished the team all the best for the two tournaments.

“We are going for the next leg of the series and the team has been training hard.  It is a great line up with the return of two Olympians to the team. Exciting times ahead as all Fijians are ready to cheer on the team at Las Vegas and Vancouver” said Vodafone’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Divik Deo.
