Telecom Fijiana

Telecom Fijiana Coach Iliesa Tanivula is expected to name a strong team next week for the 2016 Oceania 7s.

The team marched back into camp this week and they have been going through an intensive training program.

Tanivula says that for the past three weeks they have been working on bringing the girls back into their 7s fitness following the long break they had after Rio.

“Our main target was to get their fitness standards up following the long break. I am happy to say that the girls have improved in terms of their Yo Yo Test results and are responding well to the training.”

Some new faces were selected into the Telecom Fijiana extended squad and Tanivula added that they were also impressive with their results.

“The senior players have been assisting the new girls on and off the field, which is part of the team work culture that we are also trying to instill in them.”

“It will be a difficult task to name the team for the Oceania 7s as the new girls are also up to standard with their fitness and skills.”

“These girls knew what to expect from day one and they have the right attitude during training and also during meal times which comes down to sticking to the strict diet that we have designed for them.”

The Oceania 7s will be held at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on 11 and 12 November and the Telecom Fijiana team is currently ranked second to Australia in the Oceania region.

Other teams that will participate in the competition are Australia, Samoa, PNG, Cook Islands, Tonga and the Solomon Islands.
