Skipper FRU Premiership Cup and Vodafone Vanua FRU Championship Round 1 Postponed as Hurricane Keni takes its Toll.

The Fiji Rugby Union has today confirmed that Round One of the 2018 Skipper FRU Premiership Cup and Vodafone Vanua FRU Championship has been deferred and will now kick off on Saturday, 21 April, 2018.

FRU CEO, Mr John O’Connor said that they had considered and discussed all the facts before the decision was made.

“We have taken into account the players’ welfare, the ground conditions, and those whose homes and families will be affected by Hurricane Keni and have decided that we will defer Round one to next Saturday.”

“We have made the decision early because there is no sign of the situation improving according to weather forecasts. This decision is to also allow the Unions and their various home grounds the greatest chance to recover before the tournaments kicks off.”

“There will be a lot of Unions affected, especially those in the outer islands and the Western side and our thoughts and prayers go out to them and their families during this difficult time.”
